Q: Can I register by telephone?
A: Yes. You may call 480.835.9102 to register by phone. Please leave a message if you don't get an answer, and someone will call you back during the hours you request to pre-register you.

Q: Will I receive anything in the mail after I pre-register?
A: You will receive an email to the email address you give when you register. If you require a hard copy of your receipt, please

Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: Yes. We offer a Military Discount of $5 at the door, as well as Children's Discounts. Before the convention, there are Pre-Registration Discounts. (See
our Registration Page for more info)

Q: What kind of payment do you take?
A: If you are registering online we take Credit Cards & Paypal. If you are mailing in your payment or registering at the door we take Credit Cards, Cash & Checks. Please note there will be a $25 service fee for bad checks.

Q: Can I walk up and register the day of the convention?
A: Yes. We take cash, check and credit card at the convention. If you are paying with a credit card or check, please be prepared to show ID with the same name as the credit card or check. Please note there will be a $25 service fee for bad checks.

Q: How do I signup for events?
A: First, create a member account on our
New Member page. Then, go the Registered Events button on the left-hand menu. This will bring you to a page that will help you select events to register for.

Q: Why do I only get to sign up for 3 events ahead of time??
A: Because although you created a member account, you haven't pre-registered. Once you pre-register, you may double that amount to 6. If you fill out our pre-con survey, it will give you an additional slot, totaling 7.

Q: Can I get more event slots?
A: When you create a member account you receive 3. When you pre-register you receive 3 more, and if you fill out our pre-con survey you receive one more for a total of 7.

Q: What is an Events Slot cost?
A: Every 4 hours an event runs counts as one slot. A 4 hour event is one slot. An 8 hour event is 2 slots, and so on.

Q: How much does each event cost?
A: At this time, we have no events that cost in addition to your admission fee. Once you pay to get in, you should be able to participate in all of our events. In the future, however, we may allow some events to charge an additional fee in order to offer more to our attendees. If we do this, we will try to make sure that there are other similar free events available.

Q: Are there any games I'm not allowed to play?
A: There may be, depending on your age. We require a Mature Waiver signed by a parent for some games. Please check to see if you will need one and either bring it with you or have a parent there when you check in to fill one out for you. You may read more about our rating system and requirements

A: Check to see if you've created a New Member Account, which registers you for the site and allows you to sign up for games. If you have not, please go

Q: I pre-registered for Phoenix ConGames, but have not been activated yet...
A: While it is possible that you will be activated within a few hours, it usually takes up to 48 hours to be activated. If, after that time, you are still not activated, please

Q: How do I become a volunteer, and what benefits does it have?

Q: How many hours do I have to volunteer in order to get in the convention?
A: Our volunteers commit to working 20 hours for us over the duration of the convention. Some of our volunteers also choose to run games, either for themselves or others. So that our volunteers are fresh, able to get enough sleep and enjoy the convention, we will only allow them to run 12 hours of gaming above their time commitment to us.

Q: I'd like to bring a Non-Gamer companion and/or child. Is there anything for them to do there?
A: Absolutely. We have made it easy to make Con Games a family event. We offer (all free) Martial Arts Self-Defense lessons, henna tattoos, and belly dancing lessons, among other diversions. Our convenient children's area has free face painting, crafts and movies, as well as games for young people. We also offer beginner games that you can easily learn and don't have to have a Master's Degree in D&D to play!

Q: I don't know how to play a lot of games. Do you teach the games also?
A: Yes, we have an entire range of games from beginner to master. Games are given symbols indicting complexity level and experience required. For more info, if you refer to our
Event Type [[[Need Valid Link Here For Complexity or Experience]]] Page you will be able to see the different symbols showing how much experience is required for any game, from none at all to tournament level.

Q: If I'm only chaperoning my child do I have to pay to get in?
A: No. You will be given a badge indicating that you are a chaperone, and you will be able to oversee your child during the event. You will not be allowed to play any games.

Q: How do I know if a game is age-appropriate for my child?
A: There are a couple of things we do to ensure that games are age-appropriate. In order to help parents choose, we have developed an
ESRB Rating page, which will show you the different ratings of our games. For mature games, we require a signed waiver. More information on this can be found

Q: Do I have to bring my own paints or miniatures for the miniature painting?
A: We provide miniatures and paints, as well as brushes and supplies. If, however, you would like to bring your own things you are welcome to do so. Please see our
Painting Page for more details on the different contests and requirements.

Q: Can I still play games if I choose to be an exhibitor?
A: The two exhibitor badges that come with the booth, as well as extras that are bought by exhibitors, are full admission to the convention. As long as your booth stay manned during the exhibit hall hours, you may leave and play games or enjoy other parts of the convention.
We do not allow our exhibitors to leave their booths unmanned during exhibit hall hours. We give our exhibitors 2 full-access passes to the convention so that someone is always available to man the booth during the exhibit hall hours.

Q: Why are you not running my favorite game?
A: Why are YOU not running your favorite game? If no one has submitted that event to run, it won't currently be on the list. The best way to ensure that the game gets played is to run it, which is easy and fun.

Q: Is outside food and drink allowed?
A: No. Our contract with the hotel as well as the convention center requires that any food eaten on the premises must be purchased by the hotel or convention center. We will, however, have concessions at the event and the hotel will be offering a discounted lunch special.

A: Not for this year. This will change in the future.

Q: Is there a hotel I can stay at?
A: The Phoenix Marriott Mesa is attached to the convention center and is offering us a special rate of $89 for up to 4 people per room. Please see our

Q: What is the hotel group code for the convention?
A: The group code is cggcgga. If you are calling to make a reservation for the convention, please remember to use this code and tell them you are with Phoenix Con Games. If you have a problem making a reservation or getting the event rate, please call us at 480.236.4314 and we may be able to help. Sometimes the hotel has to add more rooms to the block or adjust something, but we have to call them to do it.

Q: I'd like to play the Con Run, but I'm not staying at the hotel. Does this mean can't win?
A: The Con Run cards are exchangeable. For every night someone stays at the hotel, they get a card. However, they can only use one HOTEL card for their final hand, as well as only one of any other of the cards. Everyone can trade cards to build their final hand. Our last 2 winners got their final hand by trading cards with other event attendees. So you have just as much chance as anyone else! See the
