Ron Pramschufer, one of the founders of RJ Communications and Booksjustbooks.com, started over 30 years ago working in the production office of a Baltimore, MD book manufacturer.
After about 10 years of working in the pressroom, bindery shipping department as well as estimating and the production office, he decided to try the other side of the table and became a partner in a small press publisher in Annapolis, MD.
He also co-invented, published and marketed (on a shoestring) two highly successful satirical political board games. Unfortunately, after three years in publishing he discovered... that he was a very good printer.
The publishing company (and he along with it) ended up in the bankruptcy court and he ended up in New York City selling printing to New York publishers.
That was almost 20 years ago. The idea of RJ Communications and Booksjustbooks.com evolved from a combination all of these past experiences along with a little maturity and the power of the Internet.
Over the years he has been able to share his experiences (good and bad) with hundreds of publishers, small and large.
His philosophy, when it comes to most things, is that the answer "No" just means you didn't understand the question.
His last official boss told him about 10 years ago that, "everyone doesn't see the big picture like you Ron."
In amazement he answered, "Don't you think that someone in this company should?" It was not long after that that RJ Communications was established.
Feel free to write or call Ron about any phase of the self-publishing process including your "big picture". You can contact him at ron@rjcom.com.
