Eric Kampmann, President of Midpoint Trade Books is going to talk to us about the Distribution industry. So you wrote a book. How do you get it to your public? Midpoint specializes in helping small publishers get their books to the people who want them.

Midpoint Trade Books, a leading sales and distribution company for independent publishers. Midpoint celebrated its tenth anniversary in February and experienced the greatest growth in sales in its history in 2005.

Eric has worked with independent publishers since 1981, first as the President of Kampmann & Company, then as one of the architects that engineered National Book Network's growth in the early 1990's.

Eric entered book publishing through an entry level sales position at the Viking Press in 1970. He became Assistant Sales Manger there and then in 1974 moved on to St. Martin's Press as Sales Manager. In 1977 Eric moved to Simon & Schuster as National Sales where he focused his energy on building a sales organization that could deal with the significant sales growth at S & S. In 1980, he was promoted to the position of Vice President, Director of Sales.

One of the key objectives of Midpoint is to build client publisher growth through superior sales and customer service. Midpoint current works with over 250 independent publishers. Many of Midpoint's largest publishers have worked with Midpoint for seven years or more.

Mr. Kampmann will explain the differences between exclusive and non-exclusive distribution. He will also explain how you should choose a distributor, and how to better your chances of getting the distributor you need to serve your public. Eric Kampmann believes that the Independent Publishing community is in an excellent position to take maximum advantage of the positive changes that have transformed the publishing business over the past fifteen years.
