President of Midpoint Trade Distribution is going to talk to us about the Distribution industry. So you wrote a book. How do you get it to your public? Midpoint specializes in helping small publishers get their books to the people who want them.

Mr. Kampmann will explain the differences between exclusive and non-exclusive distribution. He will also explain how you should choose a distributor, and how to better your chances of getting the distributor you need to serve your public. Eric Kampmann believes that the Independent Publishing community is in an excellent position to take maximum advantage of the positive changes that have transformed the publishing business over the past fifteen years.

Midpoint helps small to medium-sized trade publishers gain access to the trade marketplace, including acess to major retailers such as Barnes & Noble and Borders. Since 1981, Mr. Kampmann has been responsible for generating over $75 million in sales for small and medium-sized trade and professional book publishers.

Before starting Midpoint in 1981, Eric was Vice President and Director of Sales for Simon & Schuster. He also served as Director of Sales at St. Martin's Press and Assistant Sales Manager at The Viking Press. Additionally, Eric is Resource Staffer with the Radcliffe Publishing Course and contributes his sales, marketing and financial expertise to the book workshop.

While no one would have predicted that Book Superstores and internet bookselling would favor independent book publishers this is exactly what has happened. This means that the role played by book distributors and book wholesalers has increased in importance for publishers. It also means that book distributors have a responsibility to provide services that deliver sales at a reasonable cost. The Midpoint Trade Book concept is designed to be adaptable, flexible and responsive. Come to this workshop and see how understanding distribution can help you!
