EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing, now including Tesseract Books, aims to encourage, produce and promote thought-provoking and well written science fiction and fantasy literature. Our focus is specializing in novel-length trade and hard cover books as well as thematic collections/anthologies of short stories.

EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing is located in Calgary, and is Canada's largest genre publisher of Science Fiction and Fantasy. The press was founded in 2000, acquired Tesseract Books in 2003 and partnered with Dragon Moon Press in 2004.

EDGE / Tesseract / Dragon Moon books have been nominated for both Canadian and US literary awards such as the Canadian Sunburst Award, the ForeWord Magazine Award and the Benjamin Franklin Award. EDGE books and imprints have also won an IPPY Award and the prestigious Alberta Emerging Publisher of the Year Award.

We are the first Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy genre publisher to have licensed publishing rights to The Science Fiction Book Club of New York. We have also successfully licensed paperback and hardback rights to Penguin Putnam and recently licensed both French and German language translation rights. Currently EDGE is negotiating television and movie production options for some of its titles.

Brian Hades, the President of Edge/Tesseract, is a compulsive workaholic who publishes science fiction and fantasy.

What is Science Fiction? The answer is simple enough: fiction about science. Though each sci-fi author has their own approach, science fiction is speculation about the future, driven by interest and excitement about scientific - particularly technological - progress.

What is Fantasy? A rather complex answer would include: works imbued with fantasy motifs, fantastic modes of thought, narrative connections deriving from the logic of myth, and metaphors from magical or religious belief.
