Dawn of a Ghost
The Abrion Sector was of great interest to the Republic, perhaps no system or planet more so than Garban. Garban was home to the space faring race the Jenet. The Jenets massive bureaucratic government made them seem ideally suited to be made members of the senate. For this purpose, the Republic sent one of its most capable xenobiologists Justin Dirk to Garban to learn more of the race. Initially the quarrelsome and distrusting Jenet chose to stay separate from the senate, but years of diligence on the part of Justin had begun to soften this stance.
During this time, Justin's son Devin made several long trips to the planet to visit his father. Devin had some difficulties at first, being the only human child on Garban. Eventually, his need for acceptance combined with the brashness of youth, got him involved in a gang of young Jenets called the Nightwalkers. As the "different" kid in the gang, Devin was repeatedly forced to prove himself as a member, to outdo his peers. If there was a place that needed sneaking into, it was Devin's job to go in. He learned to move as a cat does, silent and careful. As with all gangs, practicing with weapons and dreaming of the big score were common activities.
Devin began to lead two lives. On one side, he was a diplomat's son who attended the major functions on Garban. On the other side, he was Ghost, and his gang worked for a Jenet named Mweet. Devin was 20 when both of his lives came to an abrupt end. The Empire invaded Garban, and enslaved the Jenet, making them work the mines. Devin's father Justin spent the next few months trying to appeal to the new governor to free the Jenet. He argued that the Jenet were just beginning to trust humans. Finally, he arranged a flight to return to Coruscant to plead his case to the Senate. That night, he was arrested for grand treason. The Empire had "found" incriminating documents in Justin's manor house that made him to be a rebel spy. Justin was taken away, and never seen by his son again.
It was then that Devin snapped inside. He began to exact his revenge against the rebellion. With his rifle, hidden in seclusion, he killed three of the men in charge of the mines. He began to leave notes for the empire "Until every slave and man you have wrongfully imprisoned is free, your blood will stain the soil of Garban. -The Ghost" The uproar this caused eventually brought the attention of the Abrion Sector Moff, Charles Luken. He arrived to personally oversee the capture of this ghost. He brought with him a man that dressed completely in black, and seemed to be his bodyguard.
Devin set up his sniper spot some quarter of a kilometer away from the podium that the Moff would address his troops. His sat there for two hours before he saw the Moff step up to the podium. He took careful aim for his head when suddenly; his rifle was jerked out of his hand. The sudden pull caused Devin to squeeze the trigger. He leapt up to see the oddly dressed man the Moff had brought with him holding his gun some 5 feet away. The man grinned and tossed the gun aside. "A boy is the Ghost that haunts this area," he laughed. Devin snarled at the man and charged him. The man seemed to casually step aside, throwing his knee into his sternum. Justin fell to the ground, gasping for air; he turned just in time to see a large boot racing towards his head.
When the blackness cleared, Devin was in a room. The Moff was there, his shoulder bandaged. The man was there as well. The Moff asked Justin who else was helping him... where the other rebels were. Justin spat at him, bringing more hatred to the Moff's eyes. "Deal with him Vorax, make him tell me the truth." Vorax knew his torture well. The pain that followed was unlike anything Devin could imagine. Devin passed out yet again from the trauma. When he awoke a second time, it was to the sound of an explosion followed by sounds of yelling. His room was now empty. The sound of laser fire echoed through the halls. Suddenly his door opened on it's own; the maglock holding it released. Devin peered into the hall only to see the bodies of several humans and Jenet. As some Jenet were running down the hall they yelled, "This way!" Devin followed them, only to round a corner with several armed Jenet. They leveled their blasters at him, and Devin thought his life was over!
"Wait," a familiar voice said", "This boy is with us. What are you doing here Ghost?" Mweet stepped from the back ranks of the Jenet. Devin explained his plight and his former boss agreed to help him escape from the prison. The Jenet rebels made it out with some 22 captives. Mweet asked if Devin wished to continue his war with the empire. Devin said he would not rest until Garban was free. Knowing that it was not safe to stay any longer on Garban, Mweet arranged for Devin to be smuggled off planet. He was also given a name to seek on the planet Gelgelar, Trannix, a member of the rebellion there. If he wished to fight the Empire, best to not do so alone.
